Good product design answers a need for something or improves upon something that already exists: Our 75-litre resin vessels do both.
Perfect for loading new systems with demineralised water, which prevent corrosion and eliminate the need for chemicals; they are also used to address issues in current systems, such as the presence of copper and iron.
Larger than standard tanks, though relatively lightweight and manoeuvrable with a built-in trolley, users can achieve a flow-rate of 1-litre a second. They can even put more than one vessel in parallel, on a side-stream basis, to further increase the flow-rate.
With a wide lid at the top, customers find these vessels quick and easy to load with resin; and – with a two-inch ball valve at the bottom – they are also speedy and simple to drain.
Two flow and conductivity meters enable users carrying out remedial works to measure the quality of the water going in and out. The meters also alert them when the resin needs replacing.
Resources Manager Reece Fouad says: “More and more of our clients are getting jobs that require chemical-free water, so these tanks help them take on different jobs, such as VDI work, instead of buying their own vessels, which are quite expensive.”
VDI jobs aim to meet the European engineering standard for preventing scale and corrosion in closed-loop water-heating and cooling systems. This standard aims to prevent corrosion occurring, rather than reacting to it. “It has been widely used in Germany for many years and has grown in popularity in the UK, partly due to its non-chemical approach,” says BSRIA.
Fouad adds: “Hydrosphere licensees have used our resin vessels for lots of large-fill systems and completed many remedial jobs too – including some that were in a really bad state – without the need to dump any toxic effluent. It means using our equipment has helped them to save time and protect the environment.”
Good product design innovates. It balances look and feel with functionality, durability and user experience.
